"Serenity" in a living room
Shoko Okumura collaborated with CABANA, a Milan-based artisanal upholstery and interior textile atelier,
on a bespoke wallpaper project that brings together traditional Japanese aesthetic sensibilities and contemporary interior design.
The two projects, titled “Gentle Breeze" and "Serenity”, explore the harmony between delicate pictorial expression and sophisticated textile surfaces, creating environments that evoke calm and refined elegance.
For this collaboration, Shoko developed original designs inspired by natural elements and serene atmospheres. These designs were thoughtfully translated into large-scale wall coverings and integrated into interior spaces, demonstrating both the tactile richness of CABANA’s materials and the subtle beauty of Shoko’s artistic vision.
The project reflects an interdisciplinary dialogue between fine art and craft, uniting painterly technique
with the tactile quality of upholstery textiles.
